The 10th Edition of License Plate Values (2008-2009) is now available. License Plate Values is a basic price guide for collectible automobile license plates issued by jurisdictions of the United States and Canada (states, provinces, and territories). Information is listed for each year a jurisdiction issued license plates, giving the value estimate in US dollars, based upon different levels of condition. For example, Alabama has two pages of data, beginning with the first year of issue, 1911, down the left column of the page. Across the top of the page are listed the various levels of condition, on a scale of 1-5 (fair, good, very good, excellent, 5=mint). The monitary value appears in the block where the two lines intersect. The states are listed in order by the alphabet, Canadian jurisdictions are contained following the US jurisdictions. Users of previous editions are familiar with the format, which remains the same as previous years. The year-by year tables are for standard passenger car plates. With this edition, more information is also provided for appraising motorcycle plates, based upon generalized decennial layers, in a new appendix to the book, appearing for the first time in this edition. This book is based upon the work and experience of Bob Crisler, a long-time collector and ALPCA member. He has established a network of information from numerous sources, including other noted collectors and hobbyists, internet auctions, and store sales, in order to put together this invaluable resource. In the past, many collectors and estates have used this reference as a guide in establishing approximate value expectations.
