This book covers the history of steins from the 1500's to date. Hundreds of steins are shown in clear black and white photos with information concerning there material, dates of production, place of origin and current price range.

The book is logically divided showing the earliest earthenware steins and moving on to other materials including Faience, Glass, Pewter, Porcelain, Pottery and Stoneware and more.

The second half of the book covers style and specific makers including: Art Nouveau, including a large section of great color photos of over 100 great steins! There is a large section on Mettlach steins which includes a history and a key to Mettlach marks.

There are sections on other etched ceramics, occupational, regimental, military, characters, brewery and modern brewery and other steins. Many collector's hints and a good index and glossary.
